I’m back with the recipes and a brand news series on homemade versions on popular fast foods. Today I am sharing the recipe for these moreish chilli cheese bombs. McDonalds in South Africa has something similar on their menu called Jalapeño cheese snackers. These are super easy to make, they require very few ingredients and are extremely addictive.
Chilli Cheese Bites
Ingredients:
2 cups of white cheddar cheese
Finely chopped jalapeños (deseed if you prefer less heat)
Salt and pepper to taste
For the batter:
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 cup of corn flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
crushed black pepper
warm water as needed
Method:
Finely grate the cheese and the Jalapeños and season with salt and pepper.
Using your hand shape the cheese into mounds, if the cheese is not sticking warm it for a second or 2 in the microwave.
Immediately freeze the cheese balls for a few hours.
Just before frying prepare your batter, add enough water to form a thickish pancake like batter.
Enclose the cheese in the batter and fry in hot oil, try not to overcrowd the pan.
Keep warm in a preheated oven.
This tastes best serve immediately.
